Interacting with your GPS just got a whole lot easier with the TomTom Go 520! In addition to improvements in aesthetics, which include a larger 4.3 inch touch screen, and smaller, more lightweight design, the Go 520 really packs a punch, featuring a host of updates to earlier TomTom models.
With new graphics and improvements to the user interface, using the Go 520
is a whole lot simpler! Using speech recognition, you can now simply state where
you would like to go, without having to type a letter. Similarly, the Go 520
can now announce street names, so you can keep your eyes on the road. With text-to-speech
functionality, your device can read aloud any sms or traffic messages you may
have, allowing you to concentrate fully on your driving.
The TomTom GO 520 also features new traffic information options - with live
traffic information, you can choose the best route to take. Your Go 520 can
update your traffic information automatically or on demand, and will suggest
a number of alternative routes should the need arise. With a clear overview
of the entire traffic situation integrated into your navigation view, you can
always rest assured you have a number of options for reaching your destination
on time.
To access live traffic information you can use the TomTom RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver
(optional - not included), which receives standard "TMC" traffic updates
broadcast at regular intervals. Alternatively, simply connect to TomTom's Traffic
subscription service via your Bluetooth® mobile phone to receive the most
accurate real-time traffic information available.
More than a navigation device, the TomTom GO 520 can also provide you with
in car entertainment during your journey! Using the inbuilt FM transmitter,
you can broadcast your own MP3s (stored on your SD card) to the car stereo!
The GO 520 will even automatically adjust the volume of your stereo to allow
you to follow the voice guided directions when required.
Perhaps the most significant feature is the inclusion of TomTom's new Map
Share software, which enables you to add to, update and personalise
your maps instantly. Drivers can now modify their own maps; if you know a better
route, change it!
Users can also share their map modifications with the 10 million strong TomTom
community using the included TomTom HOME desktop software. Now the best maps
are available to everyone at the touch of a button.
