Angry Xda IIi wifi connection problem

Hi all.

Tried to connect my new Xda IIi to my home network but it simply says "unavailable"...

Home network config:
Netgear FM114P:
- Specific SSID name
- Authentication Type: Automatic
- Encryption: WEP 1 key 128 Bit
- Access Point: Trusted PCs only
- No SSID broadcast
- Reserved IP for trusted PC's set to a specific NAT address for Xda IIi

Xda IIi config:
- Network Name: set to network SSID
- Connects to: The Internet
- Authentication: Shared
- Encryption: WEP
- Network Key: 1 key set to the network key.
- do NOT use IEEE 802.1z network access control

I have successfully connected to the network all my other PCs using the above FM114P setups:

- Netgear USB transciever
- Netgear WiFi PCMCIA card connected to a Fujitsu laptop
- HP iPaq 5450 PPC
- IBM T43 laptop

The Xda IIi discovers other unprotected networks and access points everywhere else.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Al

Have you specified an IP address or are you using DHCP?

The FM114 has a specific IP address set for the Xda. The Xda is set to receive the IP automatically (I think) - in other words, no, I didn;t specify any IP address at the Xda level.

What is the address in the FM114 and how is it set?
If your FM114 is set to DHCP it will send IP addresses to your other devices if they are configured correctly. If its not in DHCP then you have to set the IP addesses of eacj device connected.

It is set as a DHCP, but I use specific IP adresses so that I control each access. I also use this address + the MAC of each device to further limit the access to the network.

If you have DHCP set on your FM114 then you cannot specify IP addresses on your devices and vice versa.

no, no, no ;-) the specific IP addresses are set at the router level - NOT at the Xda. The Xda is *suppposed* to get them automatically. That's how all my other devices are set up.
