| | XDA Mini S Installing TomTom Hi
I am new to using a PDA and have had the O2 XDA Mini S. I would like to know if anyone knows how to get the TomTom software on to the PDA so that it can run from my storage card.
I've tried installing but it says out of Memory.
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

| | I would love to know the same. I have tried tt5 and tt5 mobile without any luck when i try to install from my tt5 cd, Windows xp sp2 reports an error and tries to send to microsoft even though it installs mo problem on my mio168, which is impossible as its my laptop and not connected to my network. I have tried installing on my 1gb memory card and it freezes at the add voice stage after install. I have even tried installing the main program on the xda mini s directly and the maps on the memory card with the same results. I am not sure where t go next and i am sure someone must have done it so if anyone out there cad help please. Thanks |

| | Done it. After days of trying the solution is Use TT5.2 not mobile and to manually extract the .cab files which are in the folder 2577 on your memory card. The cab files are GPS.cab, PIMAdin.cab, TTN.cab, and WZD.cab. Just click on each on in turn with your stylus one of them requires a re-start. Then you have to select your gps device and com port, job done. Dont worry if you dont know which they are you can change them later. |

Many Thanks for all you help.
ps. how well does navigator 5 run on the XDA mini s, i was worried about performance with regard to processor speed? is it quick enough? is it smooth, voices in sync with the map etc.??
sorry to be a newbie spaz, please help me. dave@davetowner.info |

| | step 1 : INSTALL TOMTOM5
You do this by copying the CAB files from the CDROM (eg F:\PocketPC) to the JasJar and launch one by one from there with the explorer of the JasJar.
You can install voices the same manner by copying the CAB files to the Jasjar (eg from F:\Voice on the CDROM)
GPD cab install from device
PIMAddin install from device
wzd insall from device
If you can't install the ttn cab directly from the device do step 2 if it works then miss this out step 2:ttn use win CE cab manager
Extract the files from within the cab ttn, then insert the seperate files (there should be 3) like this: create a file in
my device-> Program files-> and call it Navigator place data.chk and tom tom navigator in here.create another file in my docs
called tomtom and place remaining file called currentmap in here
For voices put 2 files into program files->Navigator file and these are called navigator.cfg and data05.chk you can download these from here step 3: ACTIVATE THE GPS CONTROL PANEL
Start up a registry editor (i usedPHM regedit)
Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\GPS Settings
Delet the Dword in there and the value and replace them with:
A new DWORD called "Group" and give it the value of "2" (dec)
And create a new string called "(default)" with no value (I think there was originally a string called redirect, rename this "(default)" if it's there
The GPS panel will now show up in your connection settings.
note: you may have to soft reset after each stage if it appears not to work straight away but i managed to make these changes then saved them soft reset and then went to control panel in settings and a GPS option was there. You'll need this for the next stage!
Unlike the jasjar, the k-jam only has 2 visible com ports bluetooth outgoing port settings these are com6 and com7 so follow this guide to get the -jam working step 4 : INSTALL TOMTOM5
1. Establish a bond with your GPS and select the checkbox for serial access.
2. In the GPS control panel, select the GPS program to 6 and make sure that the hardware one, is set to None.
4. Start TT5 and the GPS settings, select another bluetooth GPS, and you will see COM 6 free. Select COM 6 and close TT5.
5. At the GPS control panel again, now select COM (none)
6. At BT: select OUTGOING port to 6.
7. Finally start TT5 and it should connect automatically. Wait for a couple of seconds and click the GPS settings and you should see it has connected.

| | Hi,
I've also been having problems with my XDA mini s and tomtom 5. I bought A Toshiba PDA with TOMTOM5 already installed on the storage card last year. I decided to upgrade my phone to an xda mini so I would have both my phone and computer in the same unit. I read on here that you need to download the 5.2 version to stop problems. Can someone tell me what the problems are if you do not use the updated program. the problem is I am asked for an activation code when I install the download and I don not have a code due to receiving TOMTOM already installed on my old PDA.
When trying to install TT5 I am having problems with the touch screen, which stops working upon going through the installation process. Is it possible to run TT5 and not TT5.2 or will I continually have problems?
Thanks for any help you can give me. |

| | Stacey,
I suggest you remove your e-mail address from your post (if you can) as it can be picked up and put in all sorts of spammer lists.
What version of TT are you using, and what XDA (is it a mini s).
How did you install TT, as far as I know TT Mobile version will not install on a PDA. | |
