Default How do I load my old back up onto a new XDA2

Can somebody please help me to understand how I restore my data onto a new PDA. I have had an XDA2 for 2 years and recently it malfunctioned and I had to buy a new one, (Well second hand anyway).
I am trying to reload my old saved files onto my new unit and am having great problems this is what I am doing.
1... conecting my XDA2 into it's cradle
2... logging in as a guest.
3... restoring the data onto my new PDA using the tab at the top of active sync.
After doing this the PDA shows all my old data (Great) but everytime I replace the PDA into it's cradle it will only log it in a guest and it will not update all the new info that I have added using my PC outlook program.
Please someone help this is driving me mad. !!!!!

Delete the old partnership from your Activesync on your PC. It should be on the FILE menu.
