Default O2 XDA Mini S, Windows Version 5, File Permissons

Hey guys

I have a O2 XDA Mini S, running windows version 5.0

I am now familer with the way it works and how to use it, However one thing has been bugging the pants off me...... and that is the lack of message tones that are LOUD... or semi decent.

So i had a seach and found that the .WAV files are located in the root of the Windows folder on the PDA's memory,SO I found a crappy tone that I did not want, and found a .WAV on my PC I liked and renamed it infbeg.wav ....like the one on the phone. However when trying to copy it to the Windows root, it will not let u change or modify it.

So my question is can you get a application to remove or ammend the file permissions on the PDA?

Any ideas

Mike

I think it could be a protected file - by the O2 software.

Can you not add the new file using it's correct name, and simply select to use that instead of the others?

I have tried just copying the file, but when you right click on the file, it only gives u the option to set the file as a ring tone and not as a message tone.

There is also NO option in the menu or the ringtone/sounds menu to add addition sounds for alerts or messages

I have the phones ring tone set,a nd it works but I am just hacked off with the crappy message tones

any ideas

Mike

you need to just copy the new .wav file to the windows rings folder with the smae name there's no reason to change the name of the file

I think the messaging tones have to be in the windows folder rather than windows/ring.

You should then be able to change them through sound & notifications setting under the notifications tab.

Guess what.......................

It worked sticking the file straight into the windows folder

I tried that initially without renaming it and it never apeared... granted I was on the older ROM version.. maybe that sorted it

Cheers
