Default TomTom with wired GPS

HI All,

I've got a Mini S, it has TomTom Sucessfully installed and it runs. I have a cradle that has a socket (RJ11) that the Wired GPS reciever fits into and the green lights etc come on. However the tomtom does not see the reciever. Is there any way to get this to work or am i chasing at dreams, do i need to install a driver somewhere ... ????????

What settings have you used in TomTom for the GPS receiver?

Also what make/model is the GPS device?

In TomTom i told it that it was a TomTom Wired GPS device, it showed a picture of the device. I haven't seen anywhere to put any other settings.

It is a TomTom wired GPS reciever, Diamond shaped thing had one light on, when connected the light initially flashes red then goes on to Green after a little while.

Where do you enter the settings?? are there any drivers i can install?

Cheers for any help

Giles

Then it should be working.

When you look at the GPS status, do you see a yellow/black spinning symbol in the right corner? The green light indicates to me it can see sattellites, but I think it should be flashing - meaning a GPS lock.

Does your car have a heated or reflective windscreen by any chance? Ie what car is it used in?

I think the green light does flash although I'm not sure, I'm home at the moment, It says no GPS device when in TOMTOM the yellow/black thingy is still, i can check again tomorrow morning. I'm not 100% about the compatibility at all as can't find anything about anyone using the wired GPS with the XDA mini

I dont think the mini S is compatible with a wired reciever due to the mini usb connection it uses.

We sell carcomm kits for this range of pdas but no wired systems work with them.

I use the TT mkII. very good, compact and about £70 if you shop around. You can also get RJ11 leads to charge direct from your cradle.

These are our lowest priced bluetooth GPS.

http://www.totalpda.co.uk/Carcomm-Bl...-Receiver.aspx

http://www.totalpda.co.uk/Holux-GR-2...-Receiver.aspx

The both use mini usb connections for charging which is the same connection you have on your mini s.
