Default o2 XDA mini S keeps connecting to GPRS

Hi people, noob to the forums here.

Having looked through the current 8 pages of quality threads regarding 02, I didnt find anything to do with my new O2 XDA Mini S's problem. My PDA keeps connecting to GPRS without me doing anything, and even when the phone is locked. It connected last week whilst in a restaurant for an hour and a half. O2 have kindly offered to refund anything for that time, but it keeps connecting - and may well have been doing it whilst I am asleep - the sneaky blighter!!!

Has anyone had a simular problem or know a solution?

Check your GPRS settings. There should be an option to "connect when needed". Select this, and it should ask before it connects.

Also check what processes are running. Counld be you've installed an app, which is still running and connecting to the net to access info/updates.

Assuming this happens regularly, next time jot down every running process and open app and post back.

There isnt anything about "connect when needed" on the GPRS settings. It only has two selectable fields (one or the other) and they are PAP auth or CHAP auth? It still connects when all applications in Task manager are closed. For the moment I have set the internet to connect via bluetooth - so it can not actually connect (thus saving me money lol) - but this is not what I want. I will write down any apps that are running when it next trys to connect (on GPRS setup)

How are your text messages sent? Are they via SMS, or MMS/GPRS? Also, do you have service messages turned on or off?

Search would be if you've looked for a file using keywords. Having it and explorer open seems to be consistant, as if I search from FE I have the same open on my PDA.

Might be worth checking for viruses if you surf the net alot, or check emails on your device (esp if opening spam). Avast do a free 60 trail for mobile devices.

I think the texts r sent by sms - I cant find out were the setting for this is now, but I do remember seeing this somewhere when I first got it (or was that my other PDA? lol)

I haven't used the keyword search yet, so it must have been accidentally turned on whilst the lady of the house was playing Solitaire lol?

As for Avast - I had this already and had forgot about it lol.. (My new PC seems to be taking up my time now) - I ran a check and all is fine. It seems that the phone hasnt tried to connect in a short while, so hopefully it has sorted itself - or I have changed something to stop it. I was actually just wondering if Avast could have been trying to Auto update - but this setting was off?
