Thank you, yankeejeep.

You have been most helpful...I'm off to buy a dongle (the shop can't even say whether or not it supports pan (ho hum)), I'll post my results.

Thumbs up, mate.

Cheers.

(Hmm.. it'll have to wait 'til Thursday, will post then.)

If you know the make of the dongle, head to the maker's web site. Most likely they will tell you what software they bundle with it or if they make use of the desktop OS for their bluetooth services. Most bluetooth managers have support for the PAN profile on a desktop machine. You may also need to go online to see if you need any setting changes on your device to use a PAN connection hosted by your PC or to activate a PAN profile.

Cool, Thx.

I'm pretty sure the dongle uses the default MS stack.

I've followed every guide I can find, I can connect through an ad hoc connection and I still can't exchange data.. (the dongle does support pan although I can't connect through it.. says service not enabled/available.. even though I have made sure the connection is enabled on my device, and in the drivers... also I read something about I should have a "my bluetooth places" connection and I don't.

The guides seem simple enough to follow (although there are slight variations to the options that I actually have), I just shouldn't be having this much trouble, I know my way around a pc, I'm not entirely a noob.. it's beginning to really annoy me.. I've worn out two charges and I now have to charge it again in order to work with it some more.

Why is this so difficult?.. why can I connect but get no data...BAH!.. lol.

Yankeejeep... if you can be bothered talking me through this, I'd appreciate it..... or anyone else for that matter.

Thx.

(Edit.. well at least I know it's only a matter of configuration.. I've managed to set it up so that I can retrieve a file from my pc.. so that's something at least.. just ca't get ful browse or net... )
