Default O2 XDA Mini S and Vista

OM How do I get vista to recognise this device? And before anyone says, have you tried Windows Mobile Device Center, the answer is yes.

The device is simply not recognised and shows as un-connected.

My Machine is fully uptodate with updates, including to WMDC.

Any ideas anyone?

Have you modded your phone with a third party rom... if you have that's the problem.

Vista is designed to work with authorised hardware only (sometime it works but rarely.. just seen a bricked pda because of a rom upgrade done on vista... and we're going to see a hell of a lot more)

Basically... don't use Vista.

If you haven't upgraded the rom from the original retail rom... then the problems you are getting is just because Vista is a POS.

No modification. ROM is as supplied by O2. Who incidentally dont support Vista. How very forward looking. I dont have an option of not using Vista, because that is what is installed on my PC, and Im not paying for yet another OS.

Well have a look at the xda developers forum you may get some pointers there... but I doubt it because it doesn't work, in general, for them either.

But in general...

I had this problem when I upgraded to Vista.

The secret for me was not to use the Mobile Device Centre, but the Sync Center.

See http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro...ynccenter.mspx to view what the Sync Center looks like.

My O2 XDA Mini S syncs with Vista using this, no problem at all.

HTH
