Strange Mail Problems I've just bought an XDA Orbit, and can't get it to work properly for sending e-mail via WiFi.
The WiFi connection is OK - I can connect to any website (speed is dire, but that's a different issue). I can even connect - every time - to Webmail.
The Mail settings are correct - they're identical to the ones on my desktop, laptop, and Linux machine (apart from the bit before the @ in the e-mail address).
BUT - I get the message "Unable to connect..." unless all the following are met:
- I've been via webmail and deleted all "old" mail from the server. The XDA leaves the mail on the server although it's set to get the full mail, not just headers (I can't see a switch to stop it leaving the mail on the server);
- The POP mail password is NOT "saved". I have to enter it every time;
- I have shut down and restarted the Mailer software since it last received a message.
If I do all those things, then I can send and receive mail. If I don't, I can't.
I'm baffled. Does anyone have any idea what's causing it? At the moment, I can't use the pesky XDA for serious mail! |
