I used to have that same problem and, after chatting to TomTom tech support, solved it by doing this:
They also sent me these instructions which may help you. At least it means the T3 will manually check for the GPS each time - I think so anwyays. 1. Go to the application screen on your T3 and select ‘Prefs => Bluetooth’
2. Make sure Bluetooth is ‘ON’ and the battery of the T3 is charged. (if not charged it is not possible to use Bluetooth)
3. Go to ‘Trusted Devices’
4. If already in the list of Trusted Devices, delete ‘TomTom Wireless GPS’
5. Go to ‘Add Device’
6. Make sure it says: ‘Show: Current Discovery’
7. Turn on the TomTom Wireless GPS receiver and wait until it is recognized by the T3
8. When shown select ‘TomTom Wireless GPS’ in the list and press ‘OK’
9. When connected, type in the passkey ‘0000’ (4 times zero) and press ‘OK’
10. Start up TomTom Navigator
11. Tap the screen to get to the Navigator-Menu
12. Select ‘Show status’ and then ‘Satellites’ in the top right corner of your screen.
13. Select ‘Configure’ select ‘Other Bluetooth GPS’ and press ‘Done’
14. Make sure it says: ‘Show: Current Discovery’
15. Select again ‘TomTom Wireless GPS’ in the list and press ‘OK’
16. Connection will now be established between the two devices.
You will now see a list of all Bluetooth devices around each time you start TomTom Navigator. In order to manually establish a connection to your GPS receiver, you just select ‘TomTom Wireless GPS’ from the list and press ‘OK’. Immediately a connection will be established to the receiver. It's kinda hyperluting but does work well for me hth
