If the indicator is spinning you are on the way, new devices can take up to 30 minutes or more to get all the info from the satellites, after which lock-ons will be faster.

You need to go outside under an unobstructed sky i.e. away from tall buildings, and wait.

Using it two or three times per week and time to first fix will be much shorter, as low as 37 seconds. Leave it off for a month or travel many miles with it switched off and it will go into 'cold start' mode and you'll have to wait 10-15- 20 minutes again.

Make sure you don't drive off before getting a lock or it will be trying to do 'catch up'. If your car has an athermic windscreen, most French cars do, then make sure you get a lock before entering the car and setting up, once done you should have no problems.
