Default Memory Map Problem

have been running Memory Map on a Dell Axim X51v PDA for some time and unil recently everthing had been fine and dandy until the most recent software upgrade from Memory Map, which saw the program crashing each and every time I tried to open the thing on the Axim. It was fine on the PC however.

After a great deal of messing about I managed to get up and running again but only after Memory Map provided me with a roll back to an earlier software version i.e. the one I had been using prior to the latest upgrade. Memory Map claimed that they have had no complaints about the latest software release and that the problem must have been something to do with my Axim. The problem with this is that in all other respects my Axim seems to be working fine. It has nothing else at all installed apart from Memory Map and the only other thing that I use it for is outlook which comes as part of the operating system.

Before I re installed the rollback - nothing worked despite everthing I tried - re insallations together with hard and soft resets etc. To be fair the Memory Map support staff were very helpful and they did see to it that the problem was fixed.

Thank god I got through it all - but has anybody had a similar problem here or any insights that might be worth considering?

I removed this latest version from my PC and PDA as the licence restrictions it brings to bear are simply too restrictive, I am all for measures against software piracy but when new measures are introduced that make an existing product difficult to use then its not for me.

Having installed it I had to jump through hoops to get a map on the PC screen, similar messing around to get it on to a PDA then trying to print a route I had planned needed even more messing around for yet another licence (or part of licence/ activation) - At this point I threw my toys out of the cot and removed the useless upgrade from the PC. I still have the original disk with the basic v5 application on it, so I installed that, for any new mapping requirements I have for the PC I now use Mapyx Quo which is a simpler version but cheaper and easy to use - Memory Map have lost another customer - Mike
