Upgrading Maps Destinator 3

Hi I'm new to the Sat Nav game could someone please answer a few questions.
I have an Acer N35 running destinator 3. (bought Oct last year). The UK map seems to be a bit out of date. Can this be updated using the destinator console over the internet?
I tried the refresh map option but this didn't seen to do anything.

How do we know when updated are available?

Hello again. The uk map I have with destinator 3 is Q2 2004. I have a mate with destinator PN who has a map Q4 2004. Is this the latest and will it work ok with Destinator 3.
