Garmin streetpilot C510 help please

we have been given one of these. It worked to a point as long as you wanted to go somewhere in norfolk or humberside, and it won't recognise some postcodes in the UK, even though they are old streets etc. Today it says on the screen ' no detailed maps found that support routing' Can anyone help me please. Thanks
