Default Tomtom Navigator 6 Map update

Have I read correctly that TomTom no longer support map updates for Navigator 6.

Surely there must be many people using PDA's running Navigator 6 who want upto date maps?

Is there no partition out there to register a protest?

What can I do.

You can start a petition but I think its a waste of time, they don't seem to be interested in releasing Navigator 7 for the PDA on anything other than specific HTC phones in certain countries.
Shop elsewhere, there are a number of very credible alternates to the old TT software on a PDA, have you looked at McGuider which looks and operates in a very similar way to TT, and its maps are up to date - Mike

We're getting the Garmin software in this week.
Buy Garmin Mobile XT (European Maps)
Its a low cost alternative to tomtom. As Mike mentioned the McGuider software is very similar to tomtom.

Some of the all in one tomtom units we do don't cost much more than the software on its own though.
Refurbished TomTom - www.totalpda.co.uk Ltd.

Tomtom are focussing on the all in one units so at least you know updates are going to be available.

Pretty appalling.

Tomtom seem to forget that without the PDA market, they wouldnt be where they are today!

Its a strange decision when there are so many PDA's and phones that can use satnav.

They've missed a trick with the deal they did the German Telecom to to roll out tomtom 7 on the units. They'd be getting money from the Telecom company in the first place then a residual income from extra maps, services and updates.

Mcguider don't list it as compatible.

It should be a high enough spec to run it. Same story with the garmin software.

I spoke to a rep from TomTom UK last week and he told me(and to keep it quiet)that a new update for smartphones/pda's was currently being tested and they are hoping to release it just after christmas, he also mentioned about certain HTC devices when Windows Mobile 6.5 is available, coming pre-installed with both win mob 6.5 and TomTom Navigator 7 for PDA's and the like,he has always been a good info source in the past so we will have to wait and see but im sure they will release an updated version what with the massive growth in smartphone use and what with the majority having GPS capabilities.

Hello Navex,
Thanks for updating me, maybe there will be light at the end of the tunnel.
Tomtom have been updating maps for navigator 6 for so long, I fail to see why it's so difficult to continue to do so.

HTC shipping with TT7 is old news, and a kick in the balls for everyone else stuck with TT5 or TT6 because Tomtom cant be bothered with the mobile and PDA markets anymore - instead focusing on selling is an all-in-one.

Unless they hurry up, they'll miss a huge market of GPS equiped devices where users actualy want to use tomtom's software with. But they wont hold on with out of date maps forever!
