i have bought navman 4460 for my car which is fine, now i need ordnance survey maps on my palm t3 for walking/cycling.

firstly, is memory map the only option? it looks perfect for my needs.

Memory Map is probably the best option but it is only compatible with PPC devices.

unfortunately it is therefore not an option...
are there any other similar palm compatible OS maps for use with GPS?

I'm working on a Palm app that will allow you to use GPS with OS maps. The obvious drawback is that I won't have any kind of licence to distribute the maps with my product. As a result you'll either have to scan your own, or get hold of digital versions. Once that's been done, you can convert the map for use in my app.

The development is at an advanced alpha stage, so I just need to give it a bit more attention before I can release for beta testing. Let me know if you would be interested in helping to test.

I have tested it myself when I've been out on my mountain bike, and it is pretty accurate, and useful for getting me back on track!

I'd be interested if you're looking for other testers. PM me if you are.

Here's links to a couple of sample screenshots. Not too far off being able to post a link to the application now!

Features to include:
- "X" marks the spot location on map
- Straightforward map calibration using known coordinates, or GPS unit
- Zoom in/out to maps at other scales
- SD card support
- Speed camera warning using pocketgps.co.uk database
- Convert any scanned/digital map using desktop application

Looking good
Is it taking much of your time to develop it?

I've been working on it off-and-on for 2 years. Had the basic "X marks the spot" stuff working quite quickly, but have spent a lot of time adding enhancements.

To be honest, it hasn't had much of my attention of late (two kids taking up all my spare time!).

I orginially wrote it for my Palm m505 + serial port GPS. The new hi-res displays and BT receivers threw up new technical "challenges" which stalled things a bit!

I always wanted GPS for my m505 but was never able to find anywhere local at the time that sold it. Eventually got rid of that old thing and went for a shiny pocketpc instead...keep up the good work
