Default Help With Mounts

Hi

I wonder if anyone could give me some advice.

I currently have an IPAQ 4150 running Tomtom Navigator 3 with a Tomtom wired GPS reciever and it currently has a Seido mount which has never worked properly the build quality leads a lot to be desired and it now constantly loses power as I go along. Would anyone be able to advise me of a good alternative mount I could use with this system preferably with a built in speaker. Is the Tomtom car kit any good ?

Thanks for any assistance

Cheers

Steve

Welcome to our forums.
I'd recommend the TomTom kit purely because I find it well built and reliable. Theres no built in speaker but to be honest I don't think it's needed with my 4150 as it's loud enough...maybe not in a noisy car though.

Excellent thanks for the advice I guess Ill just try a journey in the car without using the amplified speaker to see if its loud enough without

Would I be right in thinking if I ordered this my Tomtom wired GPS reciever would just plug straight into it and away Id go.

One final thing what are the Tomtom mounts like reliability wise

Many thanks for the help.

Cheers

Steve

You can go for the one you linked to which includes a Y cable that goes from the cigarette lighter socket to the PDA then to the receiver or you can get the one @ http://www.totalpda.co.uk/TomTom-Car...iPAQ-4150.aspx which is a moulded cradle which comes with a power cable from the cigarette socket to the cradle which has the other connections built into it....and yes you can connect your TomTom receiver directly to both of these. The reliability is pretty good and is much better now than when they were released as TomTom keep improving on the design.

I have a Seido mount and had the same problem until yesterday when it has no power at all. I have only had it 3 months. I also recemmended it to a friend and his has lost sound! Not very good quality but great when it worked. Am awaiting a response from Total PDA to get a repair or replacement. I also have the 4150, sounds fine so long as you don't listen to radio or drive on noisy roads! That's why you need the powered speaker.

Charlie, how long do I need to wait to get this Seido sorted? My kit is useless without it. thanks.
