Default Advice needed for Newbie

Hello all, your advice would be gratefully recieved.

Have been looking into this complicated setup for a while, this forum has some really good threads in it. I suspect my audi windscreen will cause a poor gps reception, but i desparately need to try as i keep getting lost.

I have decided on running the satallite navigation on a mobile phone, looking at SPV- C500 phone or perhaps the sony ericcson P900 or 910i.

Does anyone have one of these? what software do you run? are you satisfied?

Thank you, i eagerly await much needed advice.

I am currently trying to get my head around Wayfinder on the p800. I don't want to put you off but I would suggest that you should be comfortable with configuring GPRS connections on mobile phones before you invest in any of the gear. Wayfinder looks excellent in my opinion but I have had issues with my mobile network provider which I think have contributed to my problems. There are some excellent reviews around (pocketgps.co.uk) which says that the mobile phone based systems are good but I'll need to reserve my opinion until I've got it working

I to am new to GPS, and all of the various types, and am very confused.

I will be soon upgrading my phone to a Symbian Series 60 and its seems a good idea to use the GPS on this. I currently do not have a PDA.

Does anybody have any views on Wayfinder ? The above comment is now 5 months old.
My other option is to get a PDA with GPS....

I basically want a system I can use in the car, and when I am out walking.

All views are welcome.

Welcome to our forums Gaz350.
The post date above is in UK date format it's only 2 days old

I have had good reports on Wayfinder from friends and colleagues but service problems with my network provider have stopped me forming my own opinion. There are a multitude of reviews available all over the web. Check them out and see what you think.
