| | Help-ipaq 1930/Silver shield mount/tomtom3/tomtom gps unit!? Can anyone help me ?
I have the above setup, and cannot get the gps unit to talk to tomtom3. I have disabled the 'incoming beams' and set it up in tomtom gps to recieve a connection from the tomtom reciever on irda2410, but nothing happens.
I have had a faulty mount replaced now, so have eliminated that. I know my IR port works on my ipaq, and the tomtom gps unit flashes steadily. I am at a total loss now and considering buying a map again.
These silver shield things are quite new on the market, so I'm sure others would benefit from some advice. Or maybe it's tomtom, or just me ???

PS I've also tred various combinations of ports and NMEA, SIRF drivers etc. so I dunno anymore and I'm off down the pub in disgust cause I can't play with my new toy (sob..) |

| | You need to disable IR, click on start, settings, connections and untick the beam box, Select Tom Tom Navigator GPS, S240 IRDA S240

| | Stevie.. Thanks for the prompt reply.
Tried it, it still doesn't work. Someone else advised the setting should be NMEA 115200, which i've also tried. I installed a diagnostic prog called 'winfast navigator', which shows a signal is being sent and received by the ipaq, but it still doesn't seem to interpret the data. (Also winfast navigator only has settings up to 57000 baud, so I tried it on 4800, and on 'auto-detect'). Still no joy. Is there a problem with the port as mine says 'S2410 IRDA2410' not 'S240 IRDA S240'.

| | Where did you buy the mount? I can't find anywhere with the 1930 model...only 1940.
Does it even us IR? |

| | I bought it off ebay, brand new. It has a 'ir wand' for use with the 1910/1930. There is also a haicom version which does the same thing.
I am at a total loss !

| | Sounds like there is something wrong somewhere.
We sold the Haicom version and the settings Stevie has quoted above is what's used with them. I would have guessed it would be the same for yours.
Do you have a green LED on the TomTom receiver? |

| | Yes, the green led flashes. I have used a prog called GPSdash which shows there is communication between the gps reciever and the ipaq. It doesn't look like sensible data though, just a load of rubbish. I've tried winfast navigator to do a factory reset, but it doesn't seem to communicate with the unit, as the led keeps on flashing. I really don't understand it at all...? |

| | Perhaps the receiver could be faulty in some way. |

| | Ok I give up now.
My bums sore from sitting in the car for hours on end.. I'll try the Haicom unit instead, hopefully someone else won't make the same mistake as I did buying that useless nasty setup !
Thanks anyway guys...
