Question Tomtom Bluetooth GPS in car charging

Is there a way of charging the Tomtom Bluetooth GPS unit in the car?

I was wondering if there was a way of mounting the GPS unit in the boot, with the external aerial attached to get the signal from the back window, but would then like to be able to power the unit when the ignition is on.

All of the options I've seen to charge it from the car assume that you want to charge it from the PDA mount, which I'd rather not do.

I've heard a rumour there is a GPS unit charging cradle that can be hardwired into the car, but the few places I've found that refer to it in their shops say it has been discontinued.

Can anyone shed any light on a possible solution?

Welcome to our forums.
You should have found two accessory cables in the box with your Bluetooth receiver. One has the barrel connector on one end and has the RJ11 plug on the other which connects to the TomTom car kits. The other should have the barrel plug on one end and bare wires on the other which can be used to hard wire the receiver.

Found a cable to connect to the RJ11 port, but none with bare wires.

Can I buy/obtain that from anywhere?

It just a simply bit of wire, you could probably get one (or the parts) from Maplin etc.
