Default GPS for Fieldwalking.

I am an amatuer archaeologist and want to use a GPS reciever as a tool to plot finds while I am fieldwalking. If I was fieldwalking normally a 20m grid would be set up. But i am usually on my own during the week and setting a grid up would not be realistic. Accuracy of GPS systems seem to be pretty good and anything below 6m would be fine. I think my main concern is taking the readings and transferring them to a map. Would 1:25000 scale still be too small to plot onto?
I'm sure there are other things I should take into account as well. Any help on this matter would be gratefully accepted.

Welcome to our forums.
You would probably find Memory Map of use. You can use it with a wireless GPS receiver to plot your movements etc. Have a look @ www.memory-map.co.uk .
