Default Tom Tom or Navman?

Hi all, i'm new to the forum and need some advice with getting some sort of navigation system for my PDA.

My fiancee kindly purchased a Ipaq RX3715 for me for Christmas (from www.totalpda.co.uk). I'm so happy with it. Its a great peice of kit and I have recently brought myself a 1GB SD card to compliment it.

I shall be begining my new career as a driving instructor soon and I though it would be helpful (and cool) to have some navigation system on me pda to take out the hassle of get to students addresses with minimal amount of fuss.

I would appreciate the views of you guys on what software may be better for me and whether to go wired or bluetooth. Please remember, i'm a bit of a novice so be gentle!

Thanks in advance,
Carlo

Hey Carlo!

Really good present from the Fiancee, wish I had such a thoughtful partner.... in fact I don't even have one! Anyway down to sat nav....

the rx 3715 is a new edition PDA, and Navman software does not work with it, so the only other option would be Tom Tom.

BT does means there is less wires in the car, however the reliability of Wired to some is far greater as it is always 100% physically connected. I myself use Bluetooth and have never had any major problems with it, in fact im really chuffed with my system!

Tom Tom mapping software is also very easy to use, and reliable! You have a BIG memory card so the only other thing that you may wish to purchase is a car kit, we have a really cool amplified one in stock, Seidio (only £39 exc)?

Hope this helps. Anything else drop me a line by email or phone, even for any silly questions.

Cheers,

F

I wouldnt say messy, there is a cable from the cigarette lighter into side of car kit, then the cabled receiver plugs into side of car kit, once the systems set up you can deal with hiding the wires etc? Yeah it has to sit on the dash, so it can see the sky.

Plus its slightly cheaper going for the wired system! I would rate it really highly, although cant be used outside if that would influence you in any way?

Cheers,

F
