Wanted: Advice for GPS on a budget

Hi I’m new to the PDA scene. For years I have wanted to have a GPS system, only problem is I have a very limited budget. Can anyone tell me the best receiver, software, ect, to get up and running. The PDA I have is Dell Axim X30 I won from the Dell site (boy was that lucky) All advice greatly appreciated.
