Angry Tom Tom can't find GPS

Encouraged by the excellent advice I got last time I am trying again on a different problem.

Following a total battery loss on my HP3715 I deleted everything from the SD card to start again. (Tom Tom was there with the maps but it didn't seem to want to load)

Having reloaded I selected the bit in the wizard to find the bluetooth gps and it donged and said it had found it.

I go into Tom Tom and it says either GPS disabled or unreliable. I can connect to the gps from the HP3715 and it says it is in touch and receiving everything ok, the blue light on the gps stops flashing and I think it is resolved.

Go back into Tom Tom and the gps is disabled. The blue light on the gps then starts flashing.

I have hit it, cried, thrown it out of the window, jumped on it and it still won't work.

I know this has to be an easy answer, but how frustrating do these things get! I know how fantastic it is when it is working, but have got lost 3 times in the last week and wasted at least 4 hours driving around without a clue as to where I am!! I need Tom Tom.

Check the version number shown on the GPS Status --> GPS tab. If it's less then v3.07 then you need to use the update CD that came in your TomTom pack.

Charlie, I am at work so will have to wait until I get home, but it was working before the battery crash episode. So I can only assume that the version number is OK.

Anything else I could try?

Make sure TomTom Wireless GPS and Bluetooth Serial Port COM? (? = whatever bluetooth port you have available) is selected.

Thanks Charlie, you're a star.

It was the upgrade disk I had missed out!

Loaded it, sat in the car and it spoke to me. It didn't moan about the hitting, the stamping or the poking it with a screwdriver. It said:

'At the end of the road turn left'

It was music to my ears.
