Here is what not too buy if i were you and when you get an answer to your thread gives us a shout and let me know as i am in the market for one two but i wont be buying this one
as here is why
The reason of the cut-down is the internal memory on a hp rz1710.
We do not have any updates to make features as traffic camera database and postal code possible.
The only reason why the 1710 navigation is a cut down version is because 1710 is a very
limited PDA and TomTom produced a version especially for 1710.
With best regards,
TomTom support team

The bicycle bit has raised some questions that owners of iPAQ and/or TomTom may be able to help me with: I am in the UK and we often follow National Cycle routes (the signs for which are often vandalized, hence this idea). How detailed are the maps on TomTom? Do they go down to minor B road level and lower? I have a map pouch which could house the PDA and GPS to protect it from the elements. The battery would possible need to last four hours. Would the wired version of TomTom or the Bluetooth version be better? What sucks more juice from the iPAQ. How customisable is the TomTom software? Can it plot a route avoiding all major roads for example? This may not be essential as what often happens is we come to a junction with a National Cycle Route sign on it. It will display the next town/village on the route. All I would require is the TomTom software to tell me my current location and a route to that village. This would confirm the sign has not been tampered with! Thanks. |
