help in chosing a GPS system

I have an IPAQ 5450 and am looking for a GPS sytem which I can use both in the car and on foot. I would also like to use in both the UK and US.

Would you recommend a bluetooth or sleeve base system?

Which hardware and software package would you recommend?

My Wife has an IPAQ 3700 - would she be able to use the system on her machine?

You have two main options the Bluetooth or the sleeve, you can get off road maps etc. It really on depends on would you prefer to carry a small Bluetooth receiver or just the PDA with a GPS sleeve.
