Default SD cards - does speed matter?

I've heard people on here say that you ought to have an SD card that can be read at 10MB per second to use tomtom navigator 2 on a PDA.

I've also heard people say that the entire UK map takes up just under 100 MB.

Now, correct me if i'm wrong, but wouldn't you need to drive the entire length of britain in about ten seconds for the software to HAVE to read the map that quickly? Or doesn't it work that way?

The reason i ask, is that i've oredered this SD card and i'm starting to worry it won't be up to the job.

Speed does matter when It comes to planning routes, e.g. Glasgow to London. There is a HELL of a lot of roads between the two citys, tom tom needs to work all of this out, the faster the card the better tom tom will operate.
