Default Price of Sat Nav?

Hi All

I'm generally a very good natured and easy going person however as soon as I'm behind the wheel of my car and lost, its a very different story indeed! My poor bf has been chucked out of the car on one occassion too many and has agreed sat nav is something we need to have a more harmonious existence.

I have been trying to do research on the best sat nav options for myself (I'm on a very limited budget) and have came to the conclusion that the Acer N35 is probably the most cost effective (£235 or thereabouts) however, in all honesty, I really can't see that I'd have much use for the PDA part - I really just want cheap sat nav.

TomTom is obviously the big gunner in the field of sat nav but until its prices are reduced, I'll need to go for the Acer which I'm reluctant to do.

My question is this:- Will TomTom get cheaper as Christmas gets closer? I can hold off for a few more months is that is the case.

Any thoughts / advice would be greatly appreciated

Love N Moistness

I thgink that you may be struggling to find a sat nav for that sort of money. The cheapest I could find is for around £270. Check out the link below:

I know that you stated you won't require the PDA part but the cheapest Tomtom 300 I could find for you was at £370 (a bit of a difference eh??). If you are interested in this check it out here:

Your other alternative is to go for a second hand unit. There is a section in this forum called Marketplace where people sell their second hand units when they upgrade. I can't be sure but I thought I saw a tomtom go 300 for £250 there a little while back (bargain depending on condition). You could always contact the seller via PM and request some pictures.

Good luck

Ps. I can't see tomtom getting much cheaper this year or next as they will just release a new version (keeping up the price).

I looked at the Acer for £235 on ebuyer which does look like a good system and has some pretty good reviews, though I did end up with an hp pda and TomTom at about twice the cost because I wanted a more powerful PDA! Some one here has one of the Acers and is happy with it. TomTom is unlikely to get cheaper, but if you decided to get it in the future you could still load it onto the Acer.

i bought my Yakumo from Montys GPS on Ebay (£176+£10 del),, great unit, same as mitec mio,, but remember you'll also need an SD card (£20 w*w.SVP.co.uk)and the price of the software (w*w.tomtom.com) unless you go for a bundled version, which they have with marco polo maps
