Default After some GPS advice please...

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can help me please?

I have just bought a HP Ipaq hx4700, I would like to get GPS working on it, but im not sure what i need to buy to mae it work.

I know I need the software, was going to buy the tom tom software.

But im not sure do i buy a holder and then a gps reciever, if i do that do i go for wired or bluetooth? Does it cost a lot in batteries etc...

Or do i go for an all in one holder with a built in gos reciever?

Can anyone advise on which is the best or the pro's and con's for each please?

Thankyou for the help!

Hi
I have a 4700 too and i use tomtom with it, i have found tomtom to be the best too (have tried quite a few others)

I use a bluetooth receiver and i got it from ebay, its a great piece of kit, has a rechargable battery and lasts for ages. The good thing with a bluetooth receiver you can use it with anything, i also have a nokia 6600 with the tomtom on too, so i can also use the reciever for this.

My son has a dell axim, he borrows it too. there small enough to fit in your pocket as well so easy if you want to walk and use gps.

I would say go for the bluetooth option, more portable and usable for more devices.
A friend was so taken back with my tomtom on the mobile he went on ebay and bought a mobile and the bluetooth receiver, hes loving it.

Hi Badgerdid,

Thanks for the reply. I think i will go for the bluetooth one. What PDA holder do you use for your 4700?

Kind Regards

Tony

I got mine from ebay and was the proper tomtom boxed one, came with a car charger too, was only £20 and sticks to the winder like anything, great device.

Also i have a FM transmitter to send the sound to the radio from my pda, but i only use this for mp3's as the sound on the 4700 is plenty for tomtom.

Just thought you might be interested, also got that from ebay £4, lol you just got to love ebay for cheap stuff, but the sound from the pda through the car radio is excellent.
