Red face Newbee Needing Serious Help!! Gps Mda Vario

hi
i am new here so please be gentle . i have recentley bought a MDA VARIO on t moble (its the same as the xda mini s) and have installed tomtom navigator5 on it. it appears to be working fine but no matter what i do i cant seem to get the wireless gps working . ive followed al the instructions in the gps manual and on the tomtom website but nothing?????
could someone talk me through it in layman terms please.
ive partnered it up with the phone but when i come to configure it through tomtom there is no options to alter it and its saying the gps is on com9.
PLEASE CAN SOME ONE HELP ITS DRIVING ME INSANE!!!!!!

Make sure you have the latest patch from tomtom. It should be navigator 5.21.

Also have a look here (TomTom 5 and XDA Mini S)

im not sure if i have the patch already how do i install it???
when i try to choose "other bluetooth gps" in tomtom .it says...

"please pair your bluetooth and your pda/smartphone. for detail, consult your documentation for your gps receiverand your pda/smartphone".
when i press continue it gives me a list of settings.
COM9:
infrared port
COM3:
COM0:
COM2:
serial port

but i cant add or change any of these????
if i tab any it goes straight back to gps status.
