Question Help with Kirrio GPS cradle

At my wits end. Going to France on Friday and find that my Kirrio GPS cradle with external aerial refuses to fix its position. I've hard reset my iPAQ HP 1710 and downloaded all the software and the GPS utility again. The blue light just keeps on flashing on and on and on. I've thought about jumping up and down on it a few times but as a last attempt can anybody suggest a solution??

What car do you drive? Some have reflective or heated screens which affect the GPS signal.

Get the lock outside the vehicle first, or use an external antenna

Tried that with the aerial on the roof of the car. Still no lock. I can also run the GPS from the house with a mains to 12v adaptor which takes the car plug, and still I have the same lack of results.
