Default Holux 236..UK viz US/Canada

I have just returned to the UK from a flying visit to Canada. As usual, I took my invaluable sat nav with me. Bit of a strange one with the Holux though...over here (UK), I leave it connected to the spare power socket in the back of the car...so as well as picking up the satellite signals it is continually charging at the same time. With the rental car that I picked up, I plugged it into the power (cigarette) socket, and it started charging OK, but disabled the blue tooth and satellite signal until I unplugged it., when both the BT and satellite burst into action again. So I just charged it 'off line' when not in use.
Do I assume that there is a US specific Holux version ?

The satallites are all the same, theres something like 22 going around the globe on set paths so it wont be anything to do with them, there the same ones in the US as here in the UK.

I read that only 21 are used and ones kept as a spare, so the 30 channel receivers will never be fully used, and as the satallites are spread out you proberbly will only ever get around 6-8 in view at any one time, just thought you might be interested.

could it have something to do with voltages? does the US cars work with a different voltage or are they a different current, not sure, its all i can think of.

Im sure the cars all use the same voltage and current. Can't see why it would do that.

The battery life on the 236 is excellent anyway so it couldnt have caused you too many problems.
