How do I scan map onto iPAQ 3970/NAVMAN???

I have a iPAQ3970 with a NAVMAN3400 GPS sleeve. I have purchased several different Map software but none cover the region I shall be flying in. I Heard some time back that one can scan a map into your PDA and set it up that way. Can someone give me specific details on how to do this??? Cheers
