Map software Advice please

I'm after a programme & maps for my pda / gps that is very accurate, got lots of the 'back lanes' etc on & can also ust the search for O/S grid (map) references - eg SJ 65469 36089
Does such a software / programme exist ? and if so where can I get it from ?

I'm working on an app that will allow scanned/digital OS maps to be used on a Palm with GPS. It is highly accurate if the scan is good. If you are using a Palm PDA, let me know if you are interested an I'll send you a pre-release version once it is stable enough.

Thanks very much st0cky, I've managed to get the OS landranger map for my pda, which is the type of map I needed, but I can't so a search for a grid reference, so if your app wil help me to do that I'd be very grateful for a copy of it please.
