Default Cannot change network service settings

I have HTC Touch Diamond on Orange PAYG.

I have had this sim for a while now in this and iPAQ 614c and everything works OK. However I seem to be missing calls due to it going to answer phone after a short period. I therefore tried to change this without success. I get the message" unable to save settings, try again later or turn off data connection" .

Tried both with no luck

Any ideas

Rick

On which handset?

If you are trying to change how long it takes for the answer machine to kick in the settings are normally stored at the network rather than on your phone.

If you change the setting on one handset it should be the same when you switch back to your other handset.

If neither connect then I'd speak to your network as its probably a problem at there end or with the sim.

Trying to change it on the network using the HTC

It must be some setting on the HTC thats blocking it as Orange say everything is OK and the function works if I put the sim into an old nokia phone.

Had a good look through the user manual but cannot find an answer

Cheers

Dont have my tytn with me today but when you press the call button select menu on the bottom right then phone options.

I think there should be a tab for call forwarding and you can select the timing there.

If this is the point that its not connecting then it might be a problem with the phone.

Cheers Martin

I know how to do it, and the handset connects initially to get the current settings, the problem is it will not connect to save new settings. It is not just this setting but all network settings.

This will become a bigger issue as I have just got a new car with GSM phone and will want to divert to car sim when driving.

Cheers

The only time I've ever seen the handset not connect at that point would be when I was abroad.
Does the phone connect to GPRS normally?

Maybe try the XDA developers website.

Yes, everything else connects OK.

Part of the error message is to disconnect data connection but when I look at the Comm Manager it is not showing a data connection. Only thing i can think is that it is trying to do it through a data connection?
