Jornada 928

The Jornada 928 that www.totalpda.co.uk are offering on the site at the moment is a good buy - I got one 2 days ago and it is working fine.

BUT! you need to be aware that unless you are a Vodafone cell phone customer there is a bit of fiddling about needed to use the GPRS capability of the beast.
This is because this particular batch of Jornadas are obviously overflow from a Vodafone bulk order. (It says so on the box)(Yes www.totalpda.co.uk, we know the way you keep the prices down is by finding such bulk surplus bargains).

As it comes, you can put your SIM card into the PDA and it will detect your network and you'll have a voice connection straight away.
However you won't have web browsing or e-mail unless the SIM is Vodafone. The problem you will face when trying to use a SIM card other than Vodafone is the fact that the thing is pre-configured by hp to dial and use the Vodafone GPRS net.(and this is in the ROM). After several hours fiddling about I eventually managed to get mine set up to use my Orange (GPRS enabled) SIM.

Anyone buying this unit and wanting help on how to configure a non-Vodafone GPRS ISP, drop me an e-mail. (I've only done Orange, but figure O2 etc. must be similar)

Great to hear you got it working, it auto detected my Sim as 02, not yet tried it with GPRS will give it ago soon.

Can you help? I have my o2 sim card in my jornada 928, but I can't get GPRS to work. I have reached the stage where I can get the G to appear, but apart from that I'm struggling. It's the reason I bought the 928 in the first place and it's driving me nuts. Can anyone help?

am trying to sort out the whole GPRS settings on the handheld, do you have any advice for cause i have failed to connect to any wireless internet, i have tried but there are so many settings that almost given up! How did you do it, pleeease help me out
