Default Battery change on Mio P550

Hi Guys,

I've bought a 2400mAh battery as an upgrade for my Mio. This is probably a stupid question but does the P550 have any sort of internal back-up battery or is disconnecting the main battery essentially a hard reset.

Cheers

Ricko.

Is it a fixed or removable battery on the mio?

Thanks for the reply Martin. Not sure what you mean really. Clearly its removable (its a Li-Ion battery pack), but you have to remove a screw and take the back off to get it out and its stuck in with some pretty industrial double-sided tape so I imagine they don't want you to take it out yourself.

Since its Windows mobile 5 it should be persistent storage.

It doesn't sound like mio want you to remove the battery though.

Where did you get the battery from are you able to check with them? You should be alright but you might be best checking with them.

Ok - thanks.

Mio definately don't want you to remove it yourself - the manual says "for battery problems return to the factory". But of course they would replace it with the 1200mAh that they fit as standard.

The more powerful after-market ones are readily available on ebay, but of course they are sold by battery dealers who probably know diddly squat about the item that it's going into.

I think I'll risk it!

You should be able to back up any info you have on the PDA anyway. The rom will reload automatically if it goes back to factory defaults.
