Well I’ve decided to get a PDA over a budget/second hand laptop. MY major uses for this are going to be: Working in the library at university, taking brief notes from texts and (after the purchase of a keyboard) working on essays. Because all work and no play makes Jonny ( and me ) go crazy I also intent to have a hefty SD card filled with video files to while away the time. I walk a lot and so I would like to use it as a makeshift MP3 player but as I'm a radio-listening-to kind of guy this doesn’t need to be considered too much. I also intend to stick a wireless access point at home and browse the net and stream media to the pda whilst carrying out mundane tasks - Ironing anyone. In summary I want competent media playback, good handwriting recognition, and reasonable battery life. I’ve narrowed it down to the Hp Ipaq 4150, Dell X30 and the Tungsten T3. Id love to hear all the advice you guys have got!

The handwritting recognition in the T3 is quite good and the lanscape mode / the stretch disply is very usefull. - Never used a 4150 but friends tell the are lightly better if thats what you want
