Req for help replacing XDAIIi

Req for advice
My microsoft XDAIIi is dying. It is syncd to a desk top running microsoft XP.
I have bought a lap top running Windows 7 but this does recognise XDAIIi or outlook so I am unable to sync XDAIIi with it.
I have an HTC HD7 smart phone on approval as this is compatible with windows 7 lap top but if I cant upload contacts and calendar on to it from either XDAIIi or outlook on desktop it is of new use to me

Can anyone help or suggest a pda that with work with XP / outlook / windows 7 please

I have 7 days left so the clock is ticking

To compound the problem I am not computer literate if you had not guessed, I cant even figure out how to put a title to this e-mail thread !. I know how to hit activsync on XP but thats my limit. All guidance gratefully received !!!!!!
