Question New PDA choice

I am an existing Palm m505 user but want to upgrade.

I am unfamiliar with Pocket PC but have no preference either way, though I do have a good german translation tool fully licensed already on my Palm (Slovoed).

The main requirements are:
  1. Good sync to Outlook calendar and contacts (my m505 is adequate)
  2. Good access to POP3 - ideally via WiFi
  3. GPS capability, with voice prompts
  4. General PDA usage (notes, calc etc.)
  5. Good battery life with built-in recharge (like m505)
  6. IrDA and Bluetooth (IrDA not essential but useful)
  7. Pocketable
  8. Immediate availability
  9. Circa GBP350 to 400
Any thoughts?

Welcome to our forums.
There are loads of options that meet your criteria but narrowing them down will be the trouble. Consider the iPAQ hx4700, 2750 or 5550. I'd suggest a visit to a shop that sells them to have a go.

Thanks... Narrowing down was the bit I dreaded most ;-)

You seem to be leaning towards Pocket PC rather than Palm.... Is there a reason for this?

Personal preference and there was nothing I could find from Palm that easily matched your requirements.

And of the three, where would you go?

There are quite a lot of N/A in the spec sheets which as far as I can work out means info Not Available, rather than the feature or Not Applicable.

I'd probably pick the 2750 as it's a wee bit more compact than the others.

Just got a Hx2750 through work, a wonderful piece of kit which I would recommend to anyone.
