Default HP ipaq rz1710

Fairly trivial but annoying?

i have just bought the 1710 tom tom bundle pack and I placed the console into the car cradle which is a very tight fit. basically this has taken the silver off the console straight away. i know its not a functional issue but is this meant to happen?
I have ordered a clear case to protect the unit which said it was ideal for GPS use but idon't see how it will fit in the cradle with the case on. I now don't see the point protecting it in a case if it is damaged by merely placing it in the the cradle?

thanks
paul

Welcome to our forums.
It's not meant to happen but it can and does. At least you'll be safe in the knowledge that the cradle is a tight enough fit and the PDA will not accidentally bounce out. You will not get the PDA in the cradle with a case/cover over it unless you opt for a universal style mount that merely grips the PDA by the sides.

Angry

Thought you might like to know this , ireceived this from the tomtom

people

he reason of the cut-down is the internal memory on a hp rz1710.
We do not have any updates to make features as traffic camera database and postal code possible.
The only reason why the 1710 navigation is a cut down version is because 1710 is a very
limited PDA and TomTom produced a version especially for 1710.
With best regards,
TomTom support team

Hi there,

First of all, Chancer talks nout of his A**E!! There is nothing wrong with the 1710 and is perfectly capable of running either version of tomtom (3 or 5). Granted, you are not able to get traffic on this PDA (but the same can be said for a lot of other PDA's).

I had the charging issue once and unfortunately had to do a hard reset (this was after loading more software onto the PDA tho and this could have been corrupt). The way I solved it was through a hard reset. Never had the problem since.

To get postcodes to work, connect your PDA to your computer, click on mobile device and then on SD card. Create a new folder and call it TomTom. Disconnect your PDA and then start tomtom, it should now work. If you are still having problems, PM me.

Default no luck with the postcode

Hi

I have tried creating the folder and still no joy.
I have tried "tomtom" folder and "tom tom" and i have tried adding the zip folder to this new folder.

do i have to be connected to the GPS for the postcode to work and am i doing
it right?

also can i delete office programs like word or excel to create more room for the postcode folder on the main memory? if so how?

many thanks for your help and advice

PDD

Hi
I am thinking of buying the RZ 1710, without the Tom Tom, however my technical knowledge is seriously lacking! Could you tell me more about what it does it please and if it is any good?
Thank you in advance!

I'm having the same problem with my HP rz 1710 as Paul's message from 15th May. It was getting stuck on the HP screen & now won't power up at all. I have only used it about 15 times max in the year that i've had it & only as a Tom Tom navigation system so it's not even been used to it's full potential. I don't know what the problem is & know nothing about them but it is out of warranty by 3 weeks & HP have quoted me £171 + vat to fix it which i'm told is their standard charge - absolutely ridiculous. Has anyone got any suggestions?
Thanks,
ZMc
