Exclamation MIO168 Probs !! ???

Could someone help me please !!

Recently got a mio 168 with an 512 sd card and tom tom, so basically i can use it in my car for sat nav. The problem is i install it all putting the majour files on the sd card but some of the files go on the pda e.g shortcut on desktop to getit started and a few other essential files get stored on the pda.

THE PROBLEM im having is when this mio168 runs out of power it does like a complete reset on the pda so all installed files which have been put on since the last reset get wiped when it loses its power !!! Why ?

This surely can't be right, surely the damn thing has a backup memory/battery that stores the existing info on the pda when it loses power ??

PLEASE HELP

Thanks a lot

ASH

Welcome to our forums.
It uses volatile memory that requires power to maintain its contents.
You will need to keep the battery charged to prevent it from happening.

How do you get round the problem im having without having to re-install the tom tom everytime it loses battery power. Thats surely a design fault !! surely there's a way of just putting it all on th sd card. its only bout 250mb with the gb maps !! ??

Thanks again

ASH

If you a search around the web there are ways of installing to the SD card but you need to do some registry editing as TomTom was designed to be installed to the PDAs internal memory.
