Synchronising a SD card with a desktop

I would like to be able to take the 1GB SD card out of my Pocket PC and put it in the card reader of any PC. And then synchronise the complete contents of the SD Card with the PC.

Is anyone doing something similar and would briefcase be the way to go. I have a lot of programs installed on my SD Card so am a bit worried that this might cause issues and I have to reinstall everything on my Pocket PC.
