Unhappy Protected SD Card

Apologies if this has been raised before.

Hi all, i have a 256MB SD card which once belonged to my long since dead iPAQ 1940, (static charge fried the power circuit or something). Anyway, ive been trying to format the card using a USB card reader plugged into my pc. It turns out the card is write protected (presumably by the PDA) and it wont let me delete all the data.

Any ideas how i can do this?

Cheers, Brian

Ive tried formatting it with the lock on both positions, all to no avail im afraid. When formatting it, it goes through the motions of formatting (progress bar etc) then when its due to finish it says the card is write protected. and doesnt format it.
