Default what to buy for europe

Hi newbie looking for help here.

I'm looking to get a dedicated GPS system that works out of the box and provides continious street level detail and pre-installed mapping of UK and Ireland and France. The main purpose is for a 3 week touring holiday to south of france in 2 weeks so I'm in a bit of a rush. I'm not really interested in a PDA and in activating and loading maps from consoles onto sd cards etc. I was leaning towards the mitac mio 269 but cant say I'm enthralled by the scant reviews I've read on the web. I do like the look of Destinator PN though but haven't seen it packaged with any hardware yet. Also I'm from N. Ireland - I understand that outside of Belfast the mapping is dire so whatever software works best here would have to be a consideration. Any urgent assistance in pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to our forums.
If you're looking for a no fuss solution have you considered Wayfinder which runs on a mobile phone? All you the user has to do is install the program onto a compatible phone and all the map data is kept on the Wayfinder servers. See www.wayfinder.com for some detailed info.
