Data transfer - Palm 515 to IPAQ 5550 - help please

Trying to transfer data from my trusty Palm 515 to IPAQ 5550. Both are synchronised to the PC through their respective software, what is the best way to transfer the data? I have a back up SD card which fits both and will hold the data but it needs to be formatted each time which would lose the information. Any help appreciated.
