Default Size and Battery Life

Hello everyone.

To date, I have only ever had one PDA. I bought a Handspring Visor Deluxe many years ago and was impressed by its functionality. Its primary use has been as a calendar and address book. I also enjoy the fact that I can pass time by reading ebooks, playing games or keeping up to date with news (via Avant Go), although these functions are not used frequently.

I have never replaced this PDA because nothing has ever jumped out at me with what I consider to be a superior specification. The two most important things to me are size and battery life. The Handspring will run for 2 months if used only as a calendar/address book. If I play a game for several hours per day then it will still last me for two weeks. Another important aspect is the interface, specifically one with a pointing device such as a stylus. (I did actually try a Blackberry for a couple of weeks, but the lack of a pointing device made it clunky and the keyboard did not encourage me to use the device for writing e-mails.)

It strikes me that the original Palm architecture is begging to be miniaturised, which would be ideal for me. However, it does not seem as though this has happened! Rather, new features have been added at the expense of both size and battery life!

Does anyone else sympathise with this point of view, or does something that might suit me exist on the market now?

Oh dear! It seems that I am, indeed, in a minority here!
