Charger problem

I have recently bought a Mio, which came with a standard in-car charger. This works fine (tested it in someone else's car). However, it won't work in my Ford Focus CMax. It works in the rear powerpoint (in the boot), but not the front one (the lighter). The lighter socket works (as a lighter). Do I need to adapt the lighter, or the charger? Does anyone know
