Can anyone tell me which is the better PDA, the Xda2i or the HP ipaq 5550.

I have been looking at both and not sure which one to go for, any advise would be greatly appreciated.

It's hard to compare both as one is a mobile phone and the other is not. On what basis are you looking to purchase?
